Sulfus is the leader of the Devil's Enemies. He is a 99% Devil who is repeating the first stage, making him the oldest characters of the eight protagonists in the series, followed byMiki. He was the third character being introduced, the first being Raf, and the second Urie.

Personality and Traits
Sulfus is a 16 thunder-old (Season 1) devil, he is described as cold, implacable, arrogant, vain, someone who isn't scared of anything or anyone and is often violent and overbearing. He is the leader of the group Devil's Enemies, Sulfus loves to tease Raf, with whom he fell in love at first sight. Sulfus has dark blue, short, spiky hair, amber eyes on which around the left one is a red tattoo of a star. Sulfus likes to wear motorcylce styled clothes and leather jackets.

Background
History
Sulfus was born and raised in Zolfanello City, living like any other devil. Not much is known about his childhood.
When Sulfus turned 15 flashes, he was called to Earth to attend the Golden School and become a guardian devil. However, he flunked his first attempt (some hints say it was on purpose) and had to wait until he became 16 flashes to try again.
Season 1
Sulfus appears for the first time when Raf lands on Earth, meeting her infront of the Golden School and laughing when she panics about a truck, only for it to go through her non-corporeal body. He mockingly explains to her that until she
completes her transformation, she will be transparent. Raf tries to be friendly with him, but he continues to tease her as a newbie until the two go their separate ways.
Sulfus is assigned to tempt Andrea, a 14 year-old boy, with Raf as his rival. On his very first challenge against Raf, he is so determined to win that he pretends to drown and tricks Raf into grabbing his hand. This contact violates the rule of V.E.T.O. and though Sulfus does win the challenge, he is marked with a small red star on his hand that he has to hide. Unknown to him, this crime is also seen by the neutral being Reina who chooses the two as her pawns that will set her free from her Limbo prison. Sulfus continues to face off against Raf, being defeated in their second battle, but the incriminating mark on his hand vanishes due to Reina's influence.
On a weekend where the teachers leave to meet with the High and Low Spheres, the students are given no classes. Left alone, the two sides inevitably clash. They challenge one another to a battle but Sulfus becomes frustrated with the fight and goads Raf to face him as a terrestrial. She transforms but instead of fighting, she leads him on a game of tag through the school which quickly becomes fun for the both of them. When he finally catches up to her, the two share a romantic moment until being bitten by a spider sent by Reina, giving them poison that will make them fall in love with each other.
After that moment, Sulfus and Raf are constantly caught in traps created by Reina and her servant, Malachia. Her goal is to have them kiss and create a sacrilege that will free her from Limbo. Their teachers come to notice their growing romantic feelings and in fear of the dangers such a love would bring, they separate the students by putting them with new Earthly Ones and rivals. Sulfus's new Earthly One is Matteo and his new rival is Miki, who he defeats easily. But even being separated by the teachers and with their own friends conspiring to keep them apart, it is impossible for Sulfus and Raf not to meet.
Reina sets a trap that lures the two into the Challenge Room and throws them into another dimension where they are locked together in a dungeon. To escape their prison, they become terrestrials and wander through a strange labyrinth where they find a mysterious fresco with images of a male angel and female devil who look similar to them. They later face a minotaur and while fighting to survive, they show how strong their feelings for each other have become, willing to protect one another at all costs. They escape the minotaur, but Sulfus is badly wounded and falls unconcious. Raf is worried and guilty that he was hurt protecting her, almost kissing him until being found and stopped by her friends who bring them back home.
Arkhan and Temptel learn of the almost-kiss and decide they cannot trust the students to be careful. Sulfus is given a devil bodyguard, Misha, which he does not appreciate. He finds Raf has also recieved a guardian, Gabi, and quickly becomes jealous of the angel boy while Raf is bothered by him and Misha. Reina uses these feelings of jealousy to push the two into thinking of each other even more. One of Reina's traps gets Sulfus and Raf stuck in a cave together, separated from their guards, where they must fight a lake monster. This incident leads to them admitting they do have feelings for one another, but Raf refuses to kiss him which would break the rules. He respects her wishes and they escape the cave, still holding back their true feelings.
After that time, Sulfus tries to avoid Raf the best he can, but Reina launches her final trap during the Golden School's Tournament of Light and Darkness. She forces the two to face each other in the arena, but then sends them back in time to the Aztec Civilization where they meet Tyco and Sai, the two beings they saw in the labyrinth. They are invisible to the combatants but follow them, hearing their disucssion. It becomes clear that like themselves, Tyco and Sai are rivals who had fallen in love with one another and while Sai wants to be open with her feelings (like Sulfus does), Tyco refuses as it would break the rules (just like Raf said). The students see their similarities and begin to mirror this argument as Sulfus accuses Raf of playing with him and his feelings. Raf declares that she loves him, however the words aren't enough and Sulfus wants her to prove it with a kiss. Raf refuses and Sulfus calls her a liar, leading the two to battle each other for real. During the fight, Raf discovers a new power, Inflame, which is similar to Sulfus's diabolic powers and proves their love is changing them.
As they continue to fight, Sulfus knocks Raf from the sky and she crashes, badly injured. In his desperation to help her, he discovers a new ability, Recover, which heals Raf with angelic power. After giving apologies to one another, the two see the depth of their feelings and finally give into the temptation to kiss. Unknown to them, Tyco and Sai have done the same.
As fortold, both of these kisses create a sacrilege. For Tyco and Sai, it destroys their Aztec Civilization. For Sulfus and Raf, it almost destroys the Golden School though their friends rescue the humans. The couple is returned to their own time and forced to admit they kissed to their teachers. There will be grave consequences for such an act. Unknown to anyone, Reina was also freed from her prison and escaped to the earthly city with Malachia.
Sulfus and Raf are given a discplinary hearing for their actions. Kabale leads the other students in speaking in their friends' defense, and even Misha and Gabi do their best to help them, but no one can prevent their punishment. According to the High and Low Spheres, both will be expelled. Sulfus rages against Temptel for not trying to help him even as she knows someone is out to get them. She takes this to heart and brings Arkhan along to figure out what is happening. While Sulfus readies to return home, he asks his friends to help him see Raf one last time but as she had a similar thought, they both go to each other's room and miss one another completely.
That night, Sulfus gets a strong feeling that tells him Raf is in danger. He sneaks into her dorm and finds her unconscious, then calls his friends in so they can sort out what happened: Urie sent herself, Dolce, and Miki into Raf's dream to find evidence of someone manipulating them into kissing. The Malebolgie arrive to school to escort Sulfus back home at the same time the Serafini come for Raf. The devils try to stall but can do nothing as they find Sulfus still by Raf's side. As he's dragged away, Sulfus places a goodbye kiss on Raf's hand before he's separated from her. She finally awakens in the hold of her captors, not wanting to be separated from Sulfus, either.
The teens are saved from expulsion just in time as the angels arrive with the proof of the poisoned spider bite and the teachers, who traveled to Limbo, now know Reina was behind everything. It is decided that all blame for their actions goes to Reina and they are allowed to be rivals for Andrea once more. Though the accusations are cleared, it leaves them both wondering if their love for each other was only a lie. They try to return to their former dynamic as rivals, but when Sulfus tries to tempt Andrea to make the wrong choices, he hates disappointing Raf when this endangers their human's life. The bad blood between them only deepens when he joins his friends in a battle against the angels and cheats to win against Raf.
Sulfus sees a chance to turn things around during a Halloween party where he dresses himself as an angel boy, trying to shorten the gap between him and Raf. However, she dresses as a devil and ruins the plan. Even so, the two are allowed to finally talk about their lingering feelings and uncertainty. The party is soon to revealed as a trap by Reina and the eternals must journey through the Mystery House to find their enemies, though are separated along the way. When only Sulfus and Raf remain, they find their way to a room containing a music box with a figurine of them. The music sends them both into a dream world where they have both given up on their eternal lives and are set to get married
with the support of their friends and teachers. But just before they wed, the dream is ended and they are face-to-face with Reina.
Battling the Neutral One proves fruitless as she is far too powerful, yet claims she only wants to talk. She spins a story that makes herself innocent and reveals a startling secret to Raf: she was not born an angel, but a human. She offers to tell more at a later time, then sends them back to their friends who have had their memories altered. Sulfus promises Raf not to reveal this secret but suggests she tell her friends and seek their advice.
Later on, Sulfus refuses to help Raf break into the Portraits Room on Reina's suggestion to see her human parents. He explains that such actions might be fine for a devil like him, but not for an angel like her who is not a thief nor hides secrets from her friends. However, he cares way too much about her to leave her on her own in a moment like this and keeps following her around to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. Seeing her desperation, Sulfus finally gives in to help her enter the Portraits Room but this is revealed as another trap set up by Reina who wants to steal the portraits. Sulfus and Raf try to fight, but they are defeated and wake the next day as their teachers arrive to find everything stolen.
Temptel leads the Diabolic army on an attack against Reina but Sulfus is more worried about Raf who ran off to be alone. He watches with the other devils as Reina, holding the humans hostage, commands all devils and angels abandon the planet to her rule. Unable to let the humans be harmed, they give in with only 24 hours to leave the planet. The angels bring Raf back to the school and Sulfus, filing her in on what has happened, wishes her goodbye. However, Raf suggests a plan of her own: she will sneak into Reina's home, earn her trust, then steal back the portraits. Sulfus is against such a dangerous plan but the teachers agree for the sake of rescuing the humans.
As part of this plan, Raf must pretend to turn against her friends and destroy the Golden School. Sulfus and the devils do their part pretending to fight her and losing on purpose. With the school seemingly defeated, Reina welcomes Raf into her home. Just as planned, Raf suceeds in getting the key to Reina's portrait room and flees into the city where Sulfus and the others come to protect her and the humans. They all do battle against the Neutral One and though their powers are strong, she is far stronger. The teachers reveal to them all a secret ability of the Prism Fly, using their chromatic essence to create a strong blast. Sulfus takes his Prism Fly form, his color being red, and joins the others (minus Raf) in the group attack. But even this isn’t strong enough to defeat Reina who steals all their powers and tortures them to make Raf give up the key. But they turn the tables on her again as Raf, with Arkhan's help, finds her own chromatic essence and defeats Reina once and for all.
The earth is saved and the school year comes to an end. Sulfus finds Raf at the place they first met and both are sorry to say goodbye, though think the time apart will be good for them. Raf still wonders about her lost human mother, believing she might still be alive, and Sulfus agrees it’s been a hard year for everyone. He bids her goodbye, promising her another battle in their next year.
Movie: Between Dream and Reality
Sulfus is convinced by his friends in going to the summer course, the reason that he doesn't feel like going is because he
doesn't want to see Raf even though he denies to his friends that he keeps thinking about her. When they arrive, they find out that in that same very night will be a welcome Masquerade Party at the camp's pizzeria. At the party, a girl stumbles against Sulfus, to whom he gets a warm and strange feeling, strangely not being able to see anyone else but her. He decides to take her outside to catch some air and the two talk, when Sulfus asks her name a blow of wind makes their marks fall to the ground revealing who is behind the mask: Raf. Sulfus stops her when she tries to escape and asks her why is she treating him so badly, when she doesn't answer him he assumes that she likes someone else to which she confirms, Sulfus, heart-broken, rudely tells her to leave as a tear rolls down his cheek and falls on his broken mask and mysteriously bringing it up in one piece again.
Sulfus persists in trying to find out who Raf is in love with, he later on assumes that she is in love with the Angels' teacher, Terence. However after fighting against Tyco and listening to his sad story with Sai, Sulfus decides to join Raf in
facing the Sigh of Deception. Raf confesses to Sulfus that she lied to him when she told him she was in love with someone else, revealing that she wanted him to hate her so he would forget about her and be happy in the future. After wipping a tear from his cheek, the couple finds out that the tears of a devil are the key to resolve their problem. The two bring back in one piece the broken key and face the Sigh of Deception.
By the end, Raf and Sulfus are told to play as Romeo and Juliet in the play due to the protagonists not being able to do it. The movie ends with Raf and Sulfus promising to each other that they will think if they should go through the Path of Metamorphosis , the only way for them to be together.
Season 2
Raf and Sulfus' relationship is highly tested when Sulfus is hypnotized by a strange blue haired girl, he is ordered to meet her at the hideout at sunset. After the welcome party, Sulfus goes to the balcony of school where he hopes to have a talk
with Raf however it's sunset and the hypnosis returns which makes Sulfus abandon Raf in the balcony to go to the hideout. Sulfus discovers then that he has been hypnotized by Blu when she breaks the spell however the trouble don't finish there and the devil is blackmailed by the new enemies who order him to do as they say otherwise Raf's mother, Angelie,
who is being hold as hostage by them will suffer the consequences. Wanting to protect both Raf and her mother, Sulfus agrees and his first order is to ignore Raf, being warned then to not try anything fun because Blu and Basilisco are watching him. Still under the order of ignoring Raf, Sulfus is forced to spend time with her when both must do their lesson of
Personification, they both keep in silence but Sulfus wants to tell Raf the truth. Sulfus almost manages to speak with her when they are alone at the park but he is being followed by Blu who orders Basilisco to stop him.
Sulfus is given a new order: to flirt with Raf. After doing a paint of her on the field trip to Paris, he gives Raf a gift
when they go on a field trip to Istambul, he offers her a star shaped necklace which she hesitates in accepting but the devil convinces her in staying with it, telling her to think clearly and if later she doesn't
want it, she can return it. After proving that he still has feelings for her, Sulfus sees Raf placing the necklace around her neck.
A new order comes and this time Sulfus refuses to do it, he must kiss Dolce in front of Raf, knowing that would break her heart once and for all but he is threatened by the enemies, telling him Raf's mother will pay the consequences if he doesn't do it, he pretends to accept but in his mind he has a plan: free Basilisco from the spell.
He discovers a spell to reverse the one his mascot is under and managed to bring back his friend, however not everything is
good news and when Sulfus tries to go tell Raf the truth, Blu appears and after a fight, he is put under her control again, being imprisoned. To make things worse, the enemies create a clone of him in order to complete the order he refused to do: kiss Dolce in front of Raf.
While trying to escape the cell that he soon finds out is power proof, Sulfus receives a telepathic message from Angelie who tells him what the enemies plan to do with Raf and adds that 'the heart is a weapon'. Sulfus understands the message when he finds out Blu is interested in him, so he decides to seduce her in order to get the key around her neck that should free him from the cell.
However when he finally manages to escape from the cell, it's already too late, his clone had already kissed Dolce in front of Raf who activates the disharmonic vibration. When Sulfus finally manages to reach her, the clone was gone and Raf accuses
him of betrayal. Sulfus ends up being expelled from school for two weeks after Raf tells the teachers about the sacrilege and also after he tries to show everyone the hideout of the enemies which has been destroyed in order to make him look like a fool.
When Sulfus return to school, he meets Raf on the street on the same place where they first met. He tries to explain himself but Raf tells him she doesn't blame him for what happened, adding that she is confused but that there will always be a place for him in her heart.
Sulfus, his friends and the angels find out about the maps that would lead them to the Temple of V.E.T.O , for that Sulfus and his friends dress up as angels and the angels as devils. Sulfus and his friends go to Angie Town and they face a strange tree who challenges them: if they answer correctly its questions, the tree would tell them where they could find the map, if they answered wrong they would have to fight. They end up having to fight the creatures launched by the tree and win, they find out the map can be found in the gallery of art.
They decide to wait for the night to break in the gallery and get the map, but when they hold the map in their hands, the alarm of the gallery sounds and they flee from Angie Town. Back on Earth , Raf and Sulfus join the parts of the map and
decide to go by themselves to the Temple. Sulfus tries to free Raf from a crystal prison created by Blu with who he fights but when he seems to be winning, Cassidy and Kubral, show up and start torturing him in front of Raf. Before he faints from exhaustion, Sulfus tells Raf to forgive him for he couldn't help or protect her. Sulfus then is seen carrying a fainted Raf in his arms when he and Angelie return. Sulfus is bandaged around his chest due to his wounds, later he and the others try to find a way to stop the war that approaches between Angels and Devils now that
the V.E.T.O's scales were destroyed. The only way is to challenge the actual generals and if they win, they become the new generals and declare peace. Before facing Cassidy and Kubral, Sulfus and his friends must first face the soldiers of each army. Sulfus' turn to fight comes with the group challenge where he, his friends and the angels face all the soldiers. Sulfus is constantly attacked by
Kupsida who tries to kill him by poisoning him but he is protected by Raf who uses her Rock Fly. When they think they defeated the soldiers, they surprise them by uniting, becoming two giants who catch Raf and Sulfus, nearly squeezing them to death.
They all use Prisma Fly to defeat the giants and win the last battle but Raf faints and Sulfus is exhausted but the next challenge is in two hours. Raf and Sulfus have the final battle against Cassidy and Kubral but end up being tortured by them, they chain them and electrocute them. When the end seems close and comet is about to announce who will disappear, if
angels or devils, the love between Raf and Sulfus, now unconcious, ends saving all of them by creating a light that shots to the comet and sends it back to space.
Sulfus wakes up after 2 weeks of sleep. After being announced that they will now go to university and that now they are 99,9% Angels and Devils, Raf and Sulfus decide to reveil that they don't plan on joining their friends because they want to go through the Path of Metamorphosis to become humans. Sulfus is last seen in the season dancing with Raf at the final year party.
Old Comics Version
In the comics Sulfus was slightly different from the current cartoon version but also has got a few things that remained when creating the cartoon version of this character.In the old comics, Sulfus had long raven hair, reaching his waist, his eyes were amber and a red tattoo in the shape of a star on his left eye. His wings
were red as well as his horns but smaller than the cartoon version. He wore a dark greenish-blue jacket reaching his waist, on the right side of his jacket are three pins, a yellow, a red and a white one, on the right sleeve of the jacket is the image of a white skull along with a second yellow pin, while on the left sleeve is the image of a red thunder; he uses a blue shirt, a purple scarf, red puffy pants and black and white boots.
Like the cartoon version, Sulfus failed in school but unlike his cartoon and older version, he had failed for a longer time while the cartoon version only failed one year since he is 16 thunders and the age of entering the Golden School is 15. As for the comic Sulfus' age, he is 13 thunders.
His personality and hobbies are almost the same as his cartoon version, he is arrogant, selfish, deceitful and conceited. He is part of the devils rockband and plays bass, his musical tastes are rock and punk, he is a skilled athlete in solitary stuff such as farting on a lava tail and surfing of geysers.
His projection is activated by Basilisco and he presents himself under the form of temptation. Something that happens as well in Season 2 however the cartoon Sulfus was the only character who never got a chance to try out the projection.
Sulfus has got 1% positive and that is the capacity of being able to fall in love. The comic version of Sulfus is
also in love with Raf though in this version his feelings seem to not be returned and he hides it quite well.
The old comics initally had a cartoon version but it was never released, being later replaced by the current cartoon where the characters are teenagers instead of children.

His wings change to black, orange and yellow ones that allow him to shoot fire flames. It's used for the first time on 1x01

Allow him to increase his strength, transforming his body in a bundle of violet muscles. It's used for the first time on 1x12.
Recover
A power that allows Sulfus to heal wounds but in exchange take energy from him, if used too much it could drain him. It's actually an Angel power in which he gains due to his worry for Raf and his will to protect her. It's used for the first time on 1x26.
Macro Fly
His wings change to red and beige that allow him to begome a giant. It's used for the first time on 1x46.
Prisma Fly
His wings spread the eternal chromatic essence of red. It's used for the first time on 1x51.
Iron Fly
His wings change to red and bluish-grey that allow him to shoot pieces of iron and also to protect his back from attacks, however if the attacks are too much or too strong it serves him nothing as a protection shield. It's used for the first time on 2x14.
Blow Fly
His wings change to red and yellow that increase the strenght on his fists and feet. It's used for the first time on 2x29.
